So you probably couldn't have missed it with the giant promo on the front page (thanks Tom!) but my team recently announced our upcoming platform fighter Fraymakers, now live on Kickstarter! The game will be a fully modular, full-featured platform fighter featuring a crossover main cast from indie classics including BIT.TRIP, Downwell, Rivals of Aether, Slay the Spire, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, and Slap City. Fraymakers also features a massive selection of assist characters from a broad selection of other indie sources, including the infamous Tankman from Newgrounds! The assist mechanic allows players to mix up their strategy by calling upon the unique ability of a helper to aid in battle with a unique attack or ability.

iu_196888_1238791.jpg

And that's not all - The Kickstarter campaign is a 2-in-1 deal since it also introduces FrayTools, a custom Flash-like tool we're using to develop the game's content! Using FrayTools, you can create your own characters, assists, and modes for Fraymakers using software designed to make the experience as efficient, user-friendly and versatile as possible. Just think of it as my way of sharing my decade plus experience optimizing my work flow for Super Smash Flash 2 with the world ;)

You can also wishlist the game on Steam!

Last but not least, I was contacted recently by willKMR to potentially stop in for an interview on the Newgrounds Podcast soon to talk Fraymakers / Smash Flash, so be sure to keep an ear out for that!

We’re celebrating the two-year mango-versary of Yeah Jam Fury: U, Me, Everybody! with another hefty discount! If you still don’t own a copy yet, now is an opportune time to hop onboard!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/633930/Yeah_Jam_Fury_U_Me_Everybody/

And that’s not all – we’ve also updated the local multiplayer support for better compatibility with Steam’s new feature called Remote Play Together. In case you’re not familiar, Remote Play Together allows you to play local co-op games with friends over the internet. So we took the opportunity to implement a second multiplayer setting called “Pick Up” mode. Our existing “Three Player” mode required that you have three participants, since each slot was locked to a particular character. However in Pick Up mode you only need at least two players to get your multiplayer fix (you can have up to 9 total if you have 8 gamepads + 1 keyboard!)

The way Pick Up mode works in Yeah Jam Fury is that only one player has control over all three characters at a time. But an inactive can forcefully swap in a character to fully take over! This allows you to not only involve more players, but also makes those trickier levels easier to hand off to a more capable player. Additionally the first player to press an input during a level will start with control by default, so you don’t have to worry about player 1 getting stuck if you’re playing a single-character challenge!

So how about it? Grab a friend today and go fight for that mango to earn your crown!

We’re excited to formally announce our return to Super Smash Con on Aug 9th-12th, 2018 in Chantilly, VA!

http://supersmashcon.com/

For those of you who are unaware, Super Smash Con is one of the world’s largest competitive Smash-centric events. It features Smash Bros. tournaments, tons of vendors, panels, arcade games, performances, and more! And it all takes place inside the sprawling Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia.

If you’ve been following us on Twitter you’ll know that you want to register by tonight at 11:59PM EST to grab that early bird discount!

We’re still hashing out details, but know that we will have an official Super Smash Flash 2 booth just like the previous three years with multiple setups for SSF2 friendlies. We’d love for you to stop by and say hi, so if you can make it then register as soon as you can!

Stay tuned for more information regarding SSF2 at the con throughout the coming weeks.

It's been an exciting past couple of weeks judging your submissions, and we're finally ready to announce the winners of our Stage Builder Contest for Yeah Jam Fury! It may have taken 500 attempts to clear some of these stages but we've completed them all and are excited to share our top picks!

For the first category we have the winner of Yeah League, a.k.a. "How pretty is it?". This one goes to "The Keeper of The Forest" stage by Anton G. It was our largest submission in size by far and was downright pleasant to look at while exploring. Just loading the stage in the builder caused our computers to chug, so this must have taken some massive amount of patience! Beautiful work Anton!

Next up we have Jam League, a.k.a. "How twitchy is it?". This gnarly award goes to Drarky's stage named "I miss the old pogo SFX" (sorry dude, perhaps a future DLC?). This stage pushed our coordination skills to the limits by requiring extremely precise reaction time and control. Our fingers became basically defunct once we finally cleared it. Way to go Drarky!

1238791_152268343753_miss_old_pogo_sfx.png

And last but not least we have Fury League, a.k.a. "How Stumpy Is It?". This bad boy goes to none other than Bedoop's stage titled "Going Bananas But It's Fresh Milk". The stage layout really threw us for a loop at first, but we are Yeah Jam Fury masters! After calming down and thinking critically about the situation we managed to finally snag that mango. Bravo Bedoop!

All three winners of these categories will be receiving a $100 Amazon eGift Card, a Steam Key for the game, copies of our soundtracks, as well as this poster of a real mango:

Congratulations you three!

Before closing, we also have some runner-ups in each category that we think deserve honorable mention:

First runner-up was Len's stage named "YJF Printer: Yeah, Jam, and Fury", a strong candidate for the Yeah League. We really enjoyed climbing over giant pixelated renditions of Yeah Jam Fury, based on sprites created by our very own SSF2 dev FriendAlias (a.k.a. spid3y916).

1238791_152268351753_yeah_jam_fury_printer.png

For Jam League, EnCapucho's "The Labyrinth" stage easily could have been a winner. It was a very challenging yet fun time trial, and it had wonderful stage design to boot.

1238791_152268353833_labyrinth_stage.png

And finally Kirbyrocket's "Thinking Outside" stage was a mighty contender for Fury League. It showcased a funky physics exploit that slipped under the QA radar (but honestly aren't all bugs just features?) We won't spoil it here in case you want to play for yourself in the Steam Workshop :P

Huge thanks to everyone who participated, and if you enjoyed this contest or have any feedback let us know! We'd love to do similar events in the future :)

Still haven't yet played Yeah Jam Fury: UME? Try out the free online demo right in the browser, or purchase today on Steam!
